Myrtle liqueur is a typical product of Sardinia that has ancient origins. Traditionally, in fact, preparations prepared by hand in the cases of farmers and enjoyed on special occasions or as a welcome gesture and a welcome guest. The amber black myrtle liqueur is prepared in the traditional way by cold macerating the myrtle of ripe in alcohol. The processing of this typical product takes place in the family distillery.
To best appreciate the taste of Myrtle Liqueur, it is recommended to serve it frozen.
Myrtle is an aromatic plant typical of the Mediterranean scrub. Its scientific name is "Myrtus communis" and it is an evergreen plant. The fruits are blackberries with blue reflections and ripen from November to January. It grows spontaneously in the Mediterranean scrub of Sardinia.
For the production of Myrtle liqueur, berries from plants where myrtle is grown specifically for the production of liqueur are used.
