Artisanal Wine Valtellina PG40 DOCG Red 2015 - La Spia
Artisanal Wine Valtellina Sassella 2015 DOCG - La Spia 7cl
Valtellina Superiore DOCG Sassella sub-area. This is the vineyard owned by the Rigamonti family in "La Spia" located at an altitude ranging between 350 and 400 m asl with exposure to South / South-East. It is an extensive "terraced garden" planted with vines with medium-low but very heterogeneous soils due to the strong presence of outcropping mother rock. Sandy-silty texture with low silt content and good supply of organic matter. Planting of about 4000 vines per hectare. Vineyard of advanced age which has undergone in the last few years a work of thickening the planting layout with selected clones of Nebbiolo Valtellinese locally called "Chiavennasca". The grape harvest took place only by hand during the month of October.
The grapes were traditionally vinified with temperature-controlled winemakers (24 ° -28 ° C) for 25 days. The new wine was placed in French oak barrels for 12 months, was then aged for another 12 months in tanks of steel, then aged in the bottle for another 12 months. 30% of the mass is made up of grapes, collected in boxes, left to dry for about 20 days after the harvest and added to the fermenting mass after a week from the initial pressing-destemming.
